About the IDC
IDC (Instructor Development Course) has 2 parts: The first is the AI (Assistant Instructor Course) and the second is the OWSI (Open Water Scuba Instructor Course) together they make up the whole IDC. The course runs 12-14 days including the 2 day FREE IDC Prep. It prepares students to complete the 2 day IE (Instructor examination) at the end of the course allowing them to work in the diving profession and teach a variety of diving courses from Discover Scuba Diving to Dive Master. It also includes Emergency First Responder Instructor and Care of Children Instructor ratings.
What will you learn?
During your IDC you will learn all the latest teaching techniques and knowledge development breakdowns to become a confident and fully prepared dive professional. The course is broken into 3 sections, classroom workshops, pool training, and open water training. During your 12 day IDC you will work with your mentor, Paula, to develop teaching strategies for a large range of diving courses. You will learn how to break down each of the required diving skills to prepare you to be the best dive instructor you can be. With Paula’s extensive knowledge in teaching and diving you will gain tons of great tricks and tips!
To be able to enroll in the IDC you will need:
- Hold a PADI Dive Master certification or hold a leadership level certification with another training organiztion.
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be fit for diving and submit a Medical Statement signed by a medical professional in the last 12 months from your IE date.
- Have a minimum of 100 logged dives (must submit log book for verification)
- Submit proof of CPR training within the last 24 months
- Submit documention (photocopy) of any qualifying certification issued by another recreational diver training organization
Paul Danti started diving in 1997 and became a Dive Instructor 2000. With a lot dives and experience under her belt, she has worked in Brazil, Dominican Republic, Bahamas, Spain, Italy, Thailand, Indonesia, and many more. She also speaks and teaches in Portuguese, Spanish, Bahasa Indonesian, French, Italian, and English so she is always ready to translate or work independently in different languages to make sure you get the most out of your IDC experience. She loves marine life and her programs are full of interesting facts that will give a very good perspective of what is coming up when you become a dive instructor. But above all, she loves diving and that makes all the difference. She has fun! You will never be treated as number, but as an individual who will hold in his/her hands the power to transform and change other peoples lives. And the power to transform your own!
