The Project Manager & Divemaster Instructor is responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the Indo Ocean Project’s Bira field station, ensuring the safe and effective delivery of our marine conservation, research, and professional dive training programs. This role combines operational management, team leadership, scientific fieldwork, and SSI Divemaster instruction to create an exceptional experience for interns while maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and environmental stewardship.

Working closely with the Head Office and Scientific Team, the Project Manager oversees daily operations, staff coordination, dive activities, research logistics, accommodation management, and local stakeholder relationships. The successful candidate will mentor aspiring dive professionals, support long-term ecological monitoring programs, and foster a collaborative, positive team culture in a remote field environment.

This position is ideally suited to an experienced dive professional who is passionate about marine conservation, enjoys developing others, and thrives in a dynamic role where no two days are the same.

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the Bira Project.
  • Deliver SSI Divemaster training and mentor interns.
  • Supervise staff, Research Assistants, and internship participants.
  • Coordinate daily diving operations and maintain safety standards.
  • Oversee marine research and conservation activities.
  • Manage project administration, logistics, and reporting.
  • Maintain project equipment, facilities, and accommodation.
  • Build positive relationships with local partners and stakeholders.
  • Promote a professional, safe, and conservation-focused team culture.
    Must Have Qualifications · Kualifikasi
    • Degree or diploma
    • SSI Instructor (or willing to become one before start date) – in active teaching status
    • Fluent in English
    • Strong organisational, administrative, and problem-solving skills
    • Personal dive equipment
    • Previous experience working in the dive industry
    • Previous management experience
    • Marine conservation or research work is plus
    • Comfortable living and working in a remote, multicultural environment
    What we Offer
    • Total compensation package: 14,450,000 IDR per month
      • 10,000,000 IDR per month during probation
      • 12,000,000 IDR per month after probation
      • Housing allowance: 2,000,000 IDR per month
      • Petrol allowance: 250,000 IDR per month
      • Data allowance: 200,000 IDR per month

    • Partial diving insurance and professional fees covered.
