Hello Indo Ocean Project Community!
We want to let you know about a small adjustment coming up in October. Starting from October 1st, 2024, we’ll be increasing the fees for our Divemaster and Research Diver Internship by 3-7%. But don’t worry – if you submit your application before October 31st, 2024, we’ll still honor the current prices!
Why the price increase?
We’ve been working hard to keep the program as affordable as possible, but as you might expect, the rising costs of things like petrol (which is up over 30%!) have caught up with us. In order to keep our award-winning training program running smoothly and to continue providing top-notch dive and research experiences, we need to make a slight adjustment to our fees.
But it’s not just about rising costs – we’re also adding some exciting new features to make the program even better:
- Newly developed program software: Specifically designed to elevate your program experience, this application will be available to interns 2 months before, during, and 2 months after their internship. It will centralize and streamline everything – from schedules and assignments to team communication and all the paperwork you need.
- More Learning Tools! We’re digitalizing the learning experience so you can dive into our educational materials before, during, and after your program – all at your own pace.
- New Workshops! We’ve introduced new marine ecology workshops (with in-house certification!) to help you get even more hands-on experience and knowledge in the field.
- More Team Support! We’ve expanded our team to include Junior Marine Biologists at each of our project locations. This expansion not only ensures that there will always be someone on hand to support you with your research projects, but it also creates paid job opportunities for Indonesian marine biologists. By building our team locally, we provide valuable training while fostering a community that can learn directly from the next generation of ocean experts.
We know that keeping things affordable is important to you – it’s important to us too! Even with this small increase, our program is still one of the most cost-effective ways to explore the beautiful oceans of Indonesia, earn your Divemaster certification, and take part in marine conservation.
We’ll still be cheaper than the average monthly rent in many Western cities, and a whole lot more rewarding than a regular diving holiday! 🌊
Need help funding your internship?
Here are a few ideas to make the program more affordable:
1. Apply for an Indo Ocean Project Scholarship!
2. Check out other scholarships in your home country – as a nonprofit, we qualify for many.
3. Sublease your apartment while you’re away, a great way to save some extra cash!
Our Scholarships
We want to make sure this program is open to everyone, so we’re always working with international charities to create more scholarships and grants. Our goal is to keep our program accessible while continuing to provide an incredible experience.
